There’s something about the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 that attracts tuners. From Brabus to Dartz, seemingly ever car customizer has tried to put a unique spin on this already-unusual vehicle.
The latest tuned 6×6 comes form Mansory, a company known for over-the-top projects like a 740-horsepower Rolls-Royce Wraith, or a 1,600-hp Lamborghini Aventador.
Compared to those cars, the Mansory G63 AMG 6×6 appears oddly restrained. Sure, it’s got a big hood scoop and lights on its roof, but this version doesn’t look any crazier than the stock six-wheel SUV it’s based on.
Under the hood, it’s a different story. Mansory boosted the 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8’s output from 536 hp and 560 pound-feet of torque to 828 hp and 737 lb-ft.
The extra power comes from a new exhaust system and various upgraded internal engine parts. It should make the G63 AMG 6×6 legitimately fast, although whether that’s a good thing is between the owner and his or her insurance company.
On the inside, the Mansory modifications include an extra dollop of carbon fiber, plus different leather, Alcantara, and wood trim designed to give the tuned truck a unique look.
It seems likely that the Mansory G63 AMG 6×6 will find at least one customer; it’s hard to overestimate the amount of car buyers out there with more money than taste.
The real question is: with so few 6x6s produced and so many tuners waiting to get their hands on one, will any remain stock?
