The LG G3 is sure to dominate smartphone headlines for a little while yet, but LG is already teasing us about its next big hardware releases. According to a report from the Korean G3 launch, LG executives confirmed we’ll be seeing the G Flex 2 and the Vu 4 later this year. Neither come as a huge surprise, but it’s going to be interesting to see if LG can bring some of the G3 and G Pro 2 magic to these two, rather more niche, devices.

Apparently, we should look out for both phones during the second half of 2014, although neither have been given a more precise launch window. The executives kept quiet about the specifications too, although we have heard a little about the G Flex 2 before.

LG’s flexible phone was released at the tail end of 2013, although only in certain markets, with the U.S. and Europe having to wait until early 2014 to get their hands on the bendy phone. Rumors of a sequel turned up in November 2013, with talk of the phone being capable of bending through 90 degrees. This would be considerably more than the current G Flex, but it does present quite a few technical challenges.

The Vu range has never made a big impact internationally, but they must be proving popular somewhere if LG’s planning a fourth incarnation. The Vu 3 debuted last September with a big 5.2-inch screen, a weird 1280 x 960 pixel resolution, and an unusual 4:3 aspect ratio. It was once known as a “phablet,” but the new G3 has a larger screen and is considered a regular smartphone, so it’s place in LG’s range is a little confusing.

Whatever the specs, we’re confident LG’s new user interface installed on the G3 will make an appearance on both devices, and that they’ll be compatible with the forthcoming G Watch. In the meantime, take a look at the newly announced G3 and see how LG’s latest phone stacks up against the competition.

Samsung’s $60 Fitbit killer is now available in the U.S.
Design render of the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3.

The new year has barely begun, and Samsung is already hitting the ground running with two new mobile gadgets launching in the U.S. The Galaxy Fit 3 and the Galaxy A16 5G both launched in other markets last October, but Samsung has just confirmed their availability in the U.S.

We'll start with the Galaxy Fit 3, which I find the most interesting. A successor to 2022's Galaxy Fit 2, the Galaxy Fit 3 is a small and affordable fitness tracker akin to the Fitbit Charge 6 or Fitbit Inspire 3. It has a 1.6-inch AMOLED display (45% larger than the Fit 2) and promises up to 13 days of battery life. The case is made of aluminum with a matte finish and is 5ATM/IP68 water-resistant.

A new phone from OnePlus is on the horizon, and it should attract lots of attention thanks to its purported battery capacity. The OnePlus Ace 5V is anticipated to feature a substantial 7,000mAh battery capacity. In comparison, the forthcoming OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R will likely have battery capacities of 6,000mAh. By contrast, two of the bestselling phones on the market, the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra, offer battery capacities of 4,685mAh and 5,000mAh, respectively.
