YouTube Trials Downloads

YouTube streams videos. We all know that. You can’t download them. We know that too. But that knowledge is about to be turned on its head.

The company has said it’s going to trial a system allowing people to download the videos to watch. On the site blog , Thai Tran, YouTube product manager, wrote:

Recommended Videos

“We’ve started working with a few partners who want their videos shared universally and even enjoyed away from an internet connection.”

Users who partner with the site will be allowed to offer their videos for download under the Creative Commons license, with those downloading paying a fee in order to have a permanent copy of the video.

“Partners could choose to offer their video downloads for free or for a small fee paid through Google Checkout,” Tran added.

Google, which owns YouTube, hasn’t revealed how much it will take from each transaction. The videos will be in the DRM-free MP4 format, so they can easily be transferred to portable devices.

Of course, there are programs that let people grab YouTube videos, but this move will make the content available to everyone.

Initially, YouTube is trialing the new services with the universities – Stanford, Duke, and the University of California. When it’s fully up and running, only approved users will be able to offer their content for download, in order to avoid piracy, according to Vnunet.

Sonos Sub Mini vs. Sonos Sub 4: Which boom should you buy?
The Sonos Sub 4 and Arc Ultra in white.

If you're in the market for a subwoofer for your Sonos audio setup, Sonos offers two options: the Sonos Sub Mini and the Sonos Sub 4. While they share similarities, they are designed for different purposes, and we've spent a ton of time with both so we can help you decide which to buy.

The Sonos Sub Mini is a compact subwoofer designed to enhance the low-end frequencies of your Sonos sound system. It features two force-canceling woofers that deliver deep, dynamic bass without unwanted distortion or rattling. The Sub Mini is designed to pair with smaller Sonos speakers like the Beam, Ray, One, or One SL, significantly boosting their bass performance for a more immersive listening experience.

Yellowstone is over (for now). Here are 5 similar shows you should watch right now
Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler lay down next to each other in Yellowstone.

The phenomenon that was Yellowstone is over, at least for now. The series, which starred Kevin Costner as John Dutton, a Montana rancher who ardently defends his way of life, ran for five seasons and had a tumultuous run, to say the least.

While there's news about a potential spinoff, as well as several other shows in the same universe, Yellowstone proper has come to an end. If you're looking for something to fill the void, though, we've put together a list of other shows that have a lot in common with Yellowstone. We've mostly avoided filling this list with other shows from Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone's creator (although we did fit one on there), and we also didn't list any other shows about the Duttons. Still, these shows might scratch the same itch:
