The inescapable meme, Luigi’s Death Stare, has made an appearance in a Japanese commercial for Mario Kart 8, and while it is only 3 seconds of the commercial, it’s clear that someone in Nintendo’s marketing department has been on the Internet at some point in the past month. The fact that the thumbnail for the video is the stare itself is too much of a coincidence.

With a rendition of “You Raise Me Up” playing in the background, the commercial appears to be standard fare with Mario looking determined, Donkey Kong in a mean power slide, even Peach blowing a kiss to the camera. Then Luigi appears, unleashing his icy cold stare on an unsuspecting Baby Rosalina. That amount of menace directed towards an infant? Come on Luigi…

These Switch bundles come with one of Nintendo’s best multiplayer game for free

Nintendo is kicking off the holidays early with two new Switch bundles set to release "early this fall" that will basically give you a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo Switch Online for free.

Nintendo announced the bundles on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. The bundle with the regular Nintendo Switch and Neon Red and Neon Blue Joy-Con controllers will cost $300, while the one with the Switch OLED and white Joy-Cons will sell for $350. Both bundles include a console, a digital download of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online.

When I reviewed Mario Party Superstars in 2021, I praised the party game and called it a sort of logical conclusion for the series. Its curated nature made it feel like a greatest hits collection that the series could neatly end on if Nintendo chose to do so.
