Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is raking in revenue — and positive reviews — at the box office, but that doesn’t mean the promotional cycle is over for one of 2014’s most surprising hits. In a new video featurette released by Marvel Studios, Star-Lord himself (Chris Pratt) takes viewers on a guided tour of his spaceship, The Milano.
Named after ’80s teen icon Alyssa Milano, the spaceship plays a big role in Guardians of the Galaxy, shepherding Star-Lord and his ragtag team around the universe as they attempt to recover the powerful relic that is being sought after by a host of villains. From treasure-hunting on an abandoned planet to taking on an entire fleet of enemies looking to destroy a planet, Star-Lord and The Milano make an impressive team in the movie — something that comes across in Pratt’s tour of the ship.
Along with functional knobs, levers, and various other controls, The Milano set also features an array of display screens that depict actual images instead of post-produced digital imagery. As Pratt points out in the featurette, it all goes toward giving the ship a “retro” feel based on the character’s roots in ’80s pop culture.
You can see Pratt and The Milano in action in Guardians of the Galaxy now, as the film is still in theaters. It’s directed by James Gunn and in addition to Pratt, it stars Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio del Toro, as well as the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
