Of course, it didn’t take long for pranksters and comedians (both amateur and pro) from all over the Internet to weigh in on Cupertino’s latest baby, and some of the reactions we saw were absolutely priceless.

The comedy veteran and talk show host wasted no time, offering her own take on the Apple Watch while flashing the razor sharp wit she’s well known for.

The Oatmeal

The creator of The Oatmeal comic site poked fun at the Apple Watch while offering a tip of the hat to one of Apple’s arch rivals as well.

The Onion

The satirical news website gave its two cents on the Apple Watch and iPhone 6/6 Plus announcements with this article. Here’s a quick taste.

“Ending weeks of anticipation and intense speculation, tech giant Apple unveiled a short and fleeting moment of excitement to the general public Tuesday during a media event at its corporate headquarters,” The Onion said.

Then, there’s this piece from The Onion about the Apple Watch’s key features. The Onion says that, among other things, the Watch “allows wearers to start and stop the flow of time.”

Well, that should at least halt the cries of “Apple doesn’t innovate anymore!”

Somewhere, someone will probably make this unfortunate mistake once the Apple Watch is released, actually.

We won’t give this one away or offer any sneak peeks, but we will say that what you’ll see when you open those links will at least be somewhat painful to look at.

Apple iPhone users in two additional locations in the U.S. can now access digital driver’s licenses and state IDs through the Apple Wallet app. New Mexico and Puerto Rico residents can take advantage of this service, bringing the total number of supported locations to 10. Two more states are expected to offer this feature in the near future. A MacRumors reader was the first to notice the new support available in Puerto Rico.

Apple first announced digital IDs for the Apple Wallet in 2021. However, the adoption of this feature by U.S. states and territories has been slow. Before the approvals in New Mexico and Puerto Rico, digital IDs were accepted in Iowa, California, Ohio, and Hawaii. Other approved states include Arizona, Maryland, Colorado, and Georgia.

These smart glasses have a digital crown just like an Apple Watch

Smart glasses with cameras built-in have taken off in 2024, and now a new pair has arrived on Kickstarter called the Looktech AI Glasses. The glasses provide hands-free access to an AI assistant, but what makes the otherwise familiar design stand out is the addition of a “crown” to control some of the features.

We’re used to seeing this type of control on the Apple Watch and many of the best smartwatches, but this is the first time we’ve seen it on a pair of smart glasses. The crown is set on the underside of the right-hand side arm of the Looktech AI Glasses and can apparently be twisted and pressed to control music playback through the built-in speakers.

The next Apple Watch Ultra may get a lifesaving upgrade

One of the most notable features Apple has released in the past few years is support for satellite connectivity on iPhones to help with emergency assistance and communication. It helped people facing the wrath of Hurricane Helene a few weeks ago, and it now looks like Apple is extending that feature to smartwatches.

According to Bloomberg, next year’s Apple Watch Ultra model will be able to latch on to satellite networks. “The technology will let smartwatch users send off-the-grid text messages via Globalstar Inc.’s fleet of satellites when they don’t have a cellular or Wi-Fi connection,” says the report.
