The Galaxy Alpha is easily one of Samsung’s best looking smartphones, and also its first attempt at a premium, metal-bodied Galaxy device. It’s not surprising then, to see it has teamed up with a pair of chic French fashion designers to produce a set of limited edition phones, proving it’s getting serious about style. The limited run Galaxy Alpha phones will be produced with the help of French shoe designers Free Lance and Jean-Baptiste Rautureau.
Samsung’s custom phones are so far only available through the company’s French website, and because they are going to be produced in very limited numbers, we don’t expect that to change. There are four different versions. The two for men created by Jean-Baptiste Rautureau come in silver, while the two from Free Lance are for women, and are in copper gold. Only 100 of each will be hand made. The grey and brown versions are for the guys, while the teal and bordeaux red are for the girls.
The leather covers the Galaxy Alpha’s rear panel, and has a neat embroidered flower motif in the bottom corner. Each one is numbered, and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity, which should help the phones maintain their value. The style is designed to complement the latest collections from both fashion brands, so your phone can match your shoes.
Aside from the leather rear panels, Samsung hasn’t altered the specification of the Galaxy Alpha. This means your limited edition phone will come with a 4.7-inch, 720p screen, an octa-core Exynos processor, and a 12-megapixel rear camera. The chassis is made from metal, and the body is a mere 6.7mm thick.
Samsung has priced each one at 650 euros, 80 euros more than the standard model, which is the equivalent of $795. At the time of writing, all four are still available to buy.
