Onda’s V919 Air may look like an iPad Air 2 ripoff, but it’s actually a dual-boot tablet

At first glance, the Onda V919 3G Air tablet might seem like a shameless iPad Air 2 ripoff, and that’s because it is. Even so, taking a peek under the hood reveals a pretty decent Windows 8.1 tablet with some interesting functionality, originally spotted by PhoneArena.

Onda takes some cues from Asus by allowing the V919 to dual-boot Android 4.4 KitKat and Windows 8.1. Users can switch between the two operating systems with the press of a button. Of course, since the tablet has two different operating systems onboard, its 64GB of internal storage might sound rather meager. However, the Onda tablet has a MicroSD card slot that accepts cards up to 128GB in size, so you shouldn’t run out of storage too quickly.

A 2.16GHz, 64-bit Intel Bay Trail Z3736F quad-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM, powers the tablet. In addition, 3G connectivity is available and you can even make calls from the V919 while browsing the Web. In case you want to take a few pictures, Onda slapped on a 5-megapixel back camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Onda rounded out the package with an aluminum unibody design and a 9.7-inch screen with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. The end result is a tablet that looks very similar to the iPad Air 2, but has a few surprises hidden inside. Regardless, for less than $200, you seem to get quite a bit out of the V919.

iPadOS 18 update on iPad Pro.

Apple officially released iPadOS 18 to the public in September 2024, and it's a significant update for its tablet operating system that introduces fun productivity features like Math Notes, Smart Script, and a Calculator app.

Sadly, we'll have to wait a little longer for the most exciting part of iPadOS 18, Apple Intelligence, as that's not coming until iPadOS 18.1. However, there's still lots to enjoy here, as the update also includes more sophisticated customizability for the home screen, lock screen, and control center, plus a redesigned Photos app, enhancements to Messages and Safari, and much more.

Belkin’s new iPad keyboard case may be better than Apple’s Magic Keyboard
The Belkin Everyday Keyboard Case and Cradle's keys and touchpad.

Through the sweaty crush of people at an early event at IFA 2024, a star was spotted. It was sitting on the end of the table at accessory maker Belkin’s booth, and it immediately caught my eye. It somehow looked different from similar versions I’d seen — and I was immediately intrigued.

It was the Belkin Everyday Keyboard Case with Cradle for the iPad Air and iPad Pro. It's not the catchiest of names, but the product certainly made up for that.
Another keyboard case?
