When it comes to headphones at CES 2015, Polk’s big thing isn’t big at all. Following a rapidly growing trend in the headphone genre and beyond this year, the company has unveiled a revamped version of its rustic and minimalist Hinge on-ear headphones, with no strings attached.
Part of Polk’s Heritage collection, the Hinge offers an aesthetic that evokes porch swings and wooden docks more than wireless streaming, but the dichotomy makes for a surprisingly smooth melding of styles. The Hinge’s sound signature is designed around Polk’s Optimized Electro-acoustic Tuning for added depth, and an ample punch of bass.
The rich sound signature is paired with a potent selection of features, including Bluetooth with aptX for CD-quality sound performance from compatible devices, NFC one-touch pairing, and Polk’s impressively intuitive on-board control system, designed to allow for full control of music playback and calling from a single jog-dial. The ample on-ear pads are designed for comfort and a bit of noise isolation, and the on board microphone offers Polk’s SoundClear Technology to eliminate ambient noise during calling.
Polk’s new Hinge Wireless are available now in black, camel, and blue on Polk Audio’s website, and from other select retailers for a price of $200.
