It’s teaser time again, and it’s Aston Martin who’s on deck giving us a tantalizing taste of what’s to come. The automaker released a video showing frenetically edited shots of its Vantage GT3 race car, ending with a graphic which simply states “Coming Soon” at the Geneva Auto Show. This all but cements the rumors that Aston will be unveiling a road legal version of the GT3 racer.
The current GT race car has a 5.9-liter 12-cylinder engine that puts out around 500 horsepower, though speculation suggests that the road going version will receive a significant bump in power output. It’s channelled through a six-speed sequential gearbox, which may or may not end up in the GT3 road car.
What we can certainly expect is a great deal of the luxury accouterments that Aston usually offers stripped out, as this is intended for track attacks and not leisurely Sunday jaunts.
There’s not much more to derive from the little information on hand, but it’s interesting to see what Aston Martin brings to the table when it comes to taking on the performance-oriented iterations of competitors like Porsche and Ferrari, rivals the GT3 race car competes with in the Blancpain GT race series.
Luckily, the Geneva auto show will be upon us before we know it, and we’ll be eagerly waiting to see the hardcore Aston Martin track monster in the meantime.
