Dead Rising: Watchtower, the film based on Capcom’s open world zombie games, premieres March 27 on Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Crackle streaming service. Crackle is free with ad support on all platforms, including PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The film will also be released on physical media and other digital platforms sometime after the Crackle opening. Some video on demand distribution channels will release it as an episodic series, rather than a single movie.
Watchtower stars The Daily Show‘s Rob Riggle as Frank West, a photojournalist who finds himself trapped in a zombie outbreak while tracking down its roots in a government conspiracy. He is joined in the cast by Harley Morenstein, purveyor of fried and alcoholic recipes on Epic Meal Time, as a biker named Pyro, with This Means War‘s Aleks Paunovic as the gang leader, Logan. Keegan Connor Tracey from Bates Motel rounds out the protagonists as a journalist named Jordan. The film is written by Tim Carter (Sleeping Dogs).
Capcom’s Dead Rising came out in 2006, with two sequels and a number of spin-offs released since. Most recently, Dead Rising 3 was the largest yet in the series and an Xbox One exclusive launch title.
