Rumors have been circulating for a while now regarding the possibility of X-Men: Apocalypse introducing new versions of classic X-Men characters Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. Those reports were confirmed this week when director Bryan Singer announced the trio of young actors attached to each of those iconic roles.

Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the hit HBO series, is probably the best-known actor among the bunch. The 18-year-old actress will take on the role of Jean Grey previously played by Famke Janssen in the original trilogy and multiple spinoffs, as well as the recent X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Alexandra Shipp, who starred in the recent biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, will play a young version of Ororo Munroe, the mutant known as Storm. The role was previously played by Halle Berry in the original trilogy and Days Of Future Past.

Taking on the role of Scott Summers, the mutant known as Cyclops, will be Tye Sheridan. Best known for his work in 2011’s The Tree of Life and the 2012 film Mud, Sheridan will be the third actor to play the team’s eventual field leader after James Marsden played him in the original trilogy and Days of Future Past, and Tim Pocock played a teenage version of Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Singer made the casting announcement via Twitter, calling the group “our new and brilliant young mutants.”

Described by the film’s creative team as a conclusion to the trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class in 2011, X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to hit theaters May 27, 2016.

Two men sit and talk in Body of Lies.

Welcome to the week of Ridley Scott. The 86-year-old filmmaker's next movie is Gladiator II, the 29th feature film in his illustrious five-decade career. The sequel to the Oscar-winning Gladiator, Gladiator II stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, the former heir to the throne and son of Maximus (Russell Crowe) and Lucilla (Connie Nielsen). After Roman forces kill his wife and force him into slavery, Lucius trains to be a gladiator and sets his sights on exacting his vengeance against the Empire.

Gladiator II will definitely be an awesome theatrical experience. After seeing Gladiator II, why not revisit more projects in Scott's filmography? Are you ready to get Glicked this weekend? No, I didn't call you a dirty name, that's the actual moniker being used for the simultaneous release of Wicked and Gladiator II. I'm not going to see either this weekend as both are expected to make tons of cash and draw in a lot of crowds in theaters over the next few days.

I'm content to stay in this weekend and queue up a good movie (or three) on Netflix. Feel the same way? Well, here's a handy list of a few underrated movies that are worth your time. You can always watch Glicked later in the year ... or never, if that's more your vibe.
