At just 4.75mm thick, the Vivo X5 Max makes the majority of smartphones look like they need to go on diets. It even earned the title of thinnest smartphone in the world. Seeing how temporary it’s been for smartphones as of late to hold that title, it’s only a matter of time until a newcomer arrives and takes it away. Enter Ivvi, which plans to do just that with its upcoming smartphone, as reported by GizmoChina.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ivvi, we’re not exactly surprised: Ivvi is a sub-brand of popular Chinese brand Coolpad, which doesn’t exactly have any sort of foothold to speak of in the West. Even so, Ivvi is ready to make a splash with its upcoming smartphone, which is reported to be 4.7mm thick, a hair slimmer than the Vivo X5 Max. Every little bit counts, though, and Ivvi is making sure of that.

Unfortunately, specific details on Ivvi’s upcoming smartphone is extremely scarce, save for the fact that it will have a 4.7-inch display, a speaker grill on the bottom of the back, and a protruding camera with LED flash. The phone should also sport a plastic back and rather generic look, based on the teaser picture. In contrast, the Vivo X5 Max is made of metal. We”ll undoubtedly hear more about Ivvi’s handset in the near future as companies continue to claim the crown for World’s Thinnest Smartphone.

It’s the fantastic Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and over the course of a few days, it cemented its place as my favorite camera phone of 2024. Here’s why.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra Andy Boxall / Digital Trends

I already held the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s camera in high regard after having reviewed the phone and tested it out against other cameras. I especially loved the versatility of the brilliant Photography Kit accessory. But most of this happened earlier on in the year before other brands had the chance to release serious competitors. I knew I had to give it another try, just to be sure of my feelings.

The hinge on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Last month, we first heard whispers of a potential trifold phone from Samsung. The leak came from a source with a reputable track record, but now another source corroborates the information and gives it even more credibility.

Leaker Yeux1122 posted on Naver, sort of the Google of South Korea, that Samsung has the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Fold 7 FE,  and a trifold Fold 7 variant slated for release in 2025. The Fold 7 and Fold 7 FE are expected to launch at the same time, but there's no firm timeline for the rumored trifold.
