It’s true then — what they’re saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Oyster! J.K. Rowling’s entire magical series and spin-off books about the Boy Who Lived are now available to all those who subscribe to Oyster’s ebook subscription service.
Oyster teamed up with Pottermore, the official site for all things Potter, to bring the seven-book series to its subscribers. The series is one of the best-loved and most commonly requested series on Oyster. Prior to the deal, Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited was the only ebook subscription service to offer all seven books to subscribers. For some users, the lack of Harry Potter on Oyster was a deal breaker, but now Amazon has some competition for the attention of fans who love the books.
In addition to the main books in the series, Oyster added Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, plus The Tales of Beedle the Bard as well. None of these spin-off books are available on Amazon’s service, a differentiation that could swing die-hard fans in Oyster’s direction.
However, Oyster didn’t stop with the books — The service also added new reading themes that correspond to the four different houses into which Hogwarts students are sorted in the series: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. As each house has different values, history, and characters associated with it, readers will be able to choose their own theme based on which house they wish to call their own. Oyster has also committed its book review and editorial content creators to the task of reviewing the series and writing new posts about it, all of which will be available to subscribers.
So if it’s time to re-read the series, or heaven forbid, read it for the first time, you can head on over to Oyster’s site to sign up for a free trial. After the trial period, it’ll cost you $10 a month.
