Frank and Claire get a White House portrait in new teaser for third season of House of Cards

The hit Netflix series House of Cards kicks off its third season in just over a week, and the Emmy-nominated political drama is clearly ratcheting up the tension when it returns — especially between series leads Frank and Claire Underwood — if the latest teaser is any indication.

In the new, 30-second preview for Season Three of the series, newly sworn-in U.S. President Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is seen posing for a White House portrait with his wife, Claire (Robin Wright). When he puts his hand on her shoulder, she flinches, though both of them immediately regain composure for the photo. The momentary recoil, however, is likely a sign of things to come for the ruthless, power-hungry political duo.

The hit series has already earned a long list of Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and awards for its creative team, stars, and cast, and the next season looks to continue that trend with several new, recurring characters. Gone Girl and The Blind Side actress Kim Dickens will join the cast in an unidentified role, along with Jenna Stern  from 16 Blocks as a United Nations ambassador. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina of the band Pussy Riot are also confirmed for roles in the third season.

The third season of House of Cards is scheduled to debut on Netflix February 27.

Two men sit and talk in Body of Lies.

Welcome to the week of Ridley Scott. The 86-year-old filmmaker's next movie is Gladiator II, the 29th feature film in his illustrious five-decade career. The sequel to the Oscar-winning Gladiator, Gladiator II stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, the former heir to the throne and son of Maximus (Russell Crowe) and Lucilla (Connie Nielsen). After Roman forces kill his wife and force him into slavery, Lucius trains to be a gladiator and sets his sights on exacting his vengeance against the Empire.

Gladiator II will definitely be an awesome theatrical experience. After seeing Gladiator II, why not revisit more projects in Scott's filmography? Are you ready to get Glicked this weekend? No, I didn't call you a dirty name, that's the actual moniker being used for the simultaneous release of Wicked and Gladiator II. I'm not going to see either this weekend as both are expected to make tons of cash and draw in a lot of crowds in theaters over the next few days.

I'm content to stay in this weekend and queue up a good movie (or three) on Netflix. Feel the same way? Well, here's a handy list of a few underrated movies that are worth your time. You can always watch Glicked later in the year ... or never, if that's more your vibe.
