For some reason, BlackBerry released the $1,950 Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite

Remember last year’s rather ludicrous BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone? If you don’t, consider yourself lucky, as BlackBerry is more than happy to remind you with its recent release of the Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite.

The Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite distances itself from its predecessor, thanks to “exclusive graphite-metallic colored elements” and a leather rear cover. This runs opposite to the glossy back found on the older model, though both devices have the same stainless steel frame and a similarly-styled hardware keyboard.

The changes are only cosmetic, however, as the Porsche Design P’9983 doesn’t differ internally from the original version. We’re still looking at a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3.1-inch 720 x 720 Super AMOLED screen, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal memory.

BlackBerry seems content to play up its connection to luxury in spite of the terrible sales of its two most recent smartphones: the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic.  It’s unlikely that the Porsche version will sell much better, even among the BlackBerry faithful, once they get a look at its price.

According to BlackBerry, the Porsche Design P’9983 will be available through Porsche Design stores and select carriers and retailers around the world in the coming weeks. If you absolutely can’t wait, and who can blame you, you can buy it through Porsche Design’s website right now for an eye-watering $1,950. Luxury isn’t cheap, after all.

A person holding the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

When I needed to take photos of a car for a series of stories this month, only one phone came to mind, and it wasn’t one of the top devices made by Google, Samsung, or Apple. It’s the fantastic Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and over the course of a few days, it cemented its place as my favorite camera phone of 2024. Here’s why.
Why is it the best?
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra Andy Boxall / Digital Trends

I already held the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s camera in high regard after having reviewed the phone and tested it out against other cameras. I especially loved the versatility of the brilliant Photography Kit accessory. But most of this happened earlier on in the year before other brands had the chance to release serious competitors. I knew I had to give it another try, just to be sure of my feelings.

Samsung’s trifold foldable might launch in 2025, and we can’t wait
The hinge on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Last month, we first heard whispers of a potential trifold phone from Samsung. The leak came from a source with a reputable track record, but now another source corroborates the information and gives it even more credibility.

Leaker Yeux1122 posted on Naver, sort of the Google of South Korea, that Samsung has the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Fold 7 FE,  and a trifold Fold 7 variant slated for release in 2025. The Fold 7 and Fold 7 FE are expected to launch at the same time, but there's no firm timeline for the rumored trifold.
