At the 2015 New York Auto Show, Jaguar Land Rover will introduce a new variant of the Range Rover Sport called the HST Limited Edition.
No, it’s not a faster version of the 550-horsepower SVR, aka the fastest SUV to ever lap the famed Nurburgring, but it’s no slouch with 380 hp coming from its 3.0-liter supercharged V6.
“The HST extends our Range Rover Sport line-up giving customers even greater choice,” said David Mitchell, the automaker’s Vehicle Program Director. “Sitting between the existing 340-hp Range Rover Sport 3.0-liter supercharged V6 and the 550hp supercharged variant, it delivers enhanced V6 performance to go with the renowned comfort and refinement of the Range Rover Sport.”
To put the additional power to the ground, the SUV equips a single-speed transfer case that features a Torsen Center differential. Using ‘Dynamic Mode,’ drivers can persuade the vehicle’s suspension, electric steering, transmission, and throttle to act more aggressively.
The British brand has also included a variety of aesthetic upgrades, such as darkened front and rear lamps, gloss black painted accents, and new 21-inch alloys. In between the satin grey spokes you can see the unmistakable red glimmer of upgraded brake calipers.
The Limited Edition is dressed to the nines inside as well, with Oxford leather seats, all-Ebony door trims, exclusive HST badging, and textured aluminum accents aplenty.
The standard Range Rover Sport is expected to boast new upgrades over the 2015 model, including the addition of a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6 with 254 hp and 440 pound-feet of torque.
Perhaps the most interesting addendum, though, is the automaker’s ‘InControl Remote’ app. Using a smartphone, drivers will be able to interface with their Range Rover by checking fuel level, monitoring window and door lock status, and pre-setting cabin temperature.
‘InControl Protect’ will be available as well, which notifies emergency services and provide GPS coordinates if the airbags are triggered.
More details and pricing will be announced later in the year.
