We called it “simply the most powerful and entertaining streaming HDMI device on the market” in our review of the Amazon Fire TV Stick. The streaming stick was a hit for Amazon, though it didn’t sell as well as Google’s Chromecast. Now Amazon is surely preparing for an uptick in sales, as the Fire TV Stick is heading to the U.K. next month.

The Fire TV Stick is set to launch in the U.K. on April 15, though pre-orders are available now. The retail price is £35, but a limited-time deal takes the price down to £19 for Amazon Prime members. If you’re not a Prime member yet, signing up for a 12-month membership knocks the price down even further to just £7. Considering the Fire TV Stick’s close ties with Prime Instant Video, membership is likely a good idea if you’re considering the purchase anyway — so this is a great deal.

Like its main competitors — the Chromecast and the Roku Streaming Stick — the Fire TV Stick can stream 1080p video with Dolby Digital sound, but that’s just where it begins. The Fire TV Stick is also a capable platform for casual games, though unlike its big brother, the Fire TV, you’ll have to purchase gaming accessories separately. The only other major differences between the Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick are the lack of an Ethernet port and voice control in the Stick, and a more powerful processor in the Fire TV.

The offers end March 26, so if you want to save on the Fire TV Stick, you’d better order it soon. If you’re still not sure, check out our review of the Fire TV Stick, as well as our comparison between it and the Roku Streaming Stick and the Chromecast.

Rings of Power used one simple trick to avoid an infamous Game of Thrones mistake
Adar stands near an orc in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2's penultimate installment follows Adar (Sam Hazeldine) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) as they and their respective Elven and Orc armies meet in battle outside the walls of the Elvish kingdom of Eregion. The conflict itself, known canonically as the Siege of Eregion, takes up the majority of the episode's runtime, and for good reason. It already ranks high as one of the most impressive blockbuster battle sequences that has ever been brought to life on TV.

The siege takes place almost entirely at night, but you're still able to perceive and understand everything that happens throughout it. That's a testament to the work of director Charlotte Brändström and cinematographer Alex Disenhof, the latter of whom confessed in an interview with Collider that he was worried about how visually legible the battle would turn out. "As [a] cinematographer, I think, some of the scariest things you can read on a page are like, 'A moonlit night,'" Disenhof admitted.

Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell's characters holding the same gun in The Americans promo art.

Apple TV+ is slowly but surely building up a prestige lineup of original series, with Slow Horses being one of the standouts. The series’ fourth season is underway and a fifth was already green-lit by Apple in January 2024. Adapted from author Mick Herron’s Slough House novels, the live-action adaptation successfully translates its spy drama and bleak humor.

The spy genre has spawned many great serialized stories over the years, from a thrilling FX Cold War drama to Amazon Prime Video’s Tom Clancy adaptation. Fans will have plenty to dig into during their inevitable wait for Slow Horses’ MI5 rejects to return in season 5.
