It’s the Game of Thrones intro meets The Legend of Zelda: Enough said

Game of Thrones, Legend of Zelda Intro Teaser - Game of Hyrule Opening
Nintendo may have denied rumors that Netflix is developing a Game of Thrones-style television series adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, but that hasn’t stopped one exceptionally talented fan from creating a little taste of what that might look like when interpreted very literally.

YouTuber Megasteakman created this fantastic CG opening sequence for Game of Hyrule, an imitation of the iconic opening credits for HBO’s Game of Thrones, but using the map from the 1991 SNES classic, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The visuals are pitch-perfect, and fans of the series will recognize plenty of locations from one of its defining games.

Seriously, you need to see this. The intro to Game of Thrones is one of the best parts of each episode of the acclaimed series, and our jaws dropped when we saw this adaptation.

We’re most impressed by the music, which seamlessly merges the theme songs from Game of Thrones and The Legend of Zelda. Both songs are effective earworms on their own, combining into a truly epic cocktail. Kudos to Mattia Cupelli, to whom Megasteakman attributes the composition.

The fifth season of Game of Thrones premieres this coming Sunday, April 12 on HBO. The next Legend of Zelda game is currently in development for Wii U, and is slated to release sometime in 2016. Whether or not an actual Legend of Zelda TV series will ever grace our many Netflix screens, we can only wonder, at this point.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom gives Zelda her starring role
Zelda running from a purple void

Nintendo revealed a brand new Zelda title called The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom during the June Nintendo Direct. This is the latest 2D entry in the series following the remake of Link's Awakening in 2019 and it will be released on September 26 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

Instead of another remake of a classic Zelda title, which developer Grezzo is most known for, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was revealed as an entirely new entry in the series. Using the same art style as Link's Awakening, Echoes of Wisdom will finally allow players to go on an adventure playing as Zelda rather than Link.

The Legend of Zelda’s first Lego set is even cooler than it looks
The Great Deku Tree Lego set.

The Legend of Zelda is the latest Nintendo franchise to get the Lego treatment, as Nintendo and Lego have unveiled the Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set.

According to a press release on Lego's website, this is a 2,500-piece set that can be customized to represent both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, hence why it's called a 2-in-1. If players go with the Ocarina of Time-inspired build, the Deku Tree will look like the one from that game and have a mechanism that lets people open its mouth to see a Skulltula. Meanwhile, the Breath of the Wild-themed Deku will have pink blossoms and a mechanism that lets people make its eyebrows and mouth move.
