The new teaser for the film offers the first look at Michael Fassbender as Jobs, the deceased CEO of Apple who co-founded the company along with Steve Wozniak. Seth Rogen portrays Wozniak in the film, which unfolds across the launches of three major products in Apple’s history, and ends with the 1998 unveiling of the iMac.
“Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter,” reads the official synopsis of the movie.
Long delayed due to changes in both the film’s star and director, the film has been in development for more than two years now and was actually dropped by Sony Pictures last November before being picked up by Universal Pictures later that same month. Filmmaker David Fincher was initially attached to direct the biopic with actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale each joining and departing the film prior to Fassbender taking the lead role.
Along with Fassbender and Rogen, the cast also includes Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman, the former marketing chief of Macintosh. The cast is filled out by Jeff Daniels in the role of former Apple CEO John Sculley, Katherine Waterston as Jobs’ ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan, and Michael Stuhlbarg as one of the original members of the Apple Macintosh development team, Andy Hertzfeld.
Sorkin’s screenplay for the film is based on Walter Isaacson’s 2011 biography of Jobs.
Steve Jobs is scheduled to hit theaters Friday, October 9.
