Well, that was quick. Never bashful about doubling down on its original series, Netflix has done just that with its raucous new adult-animated series starring everybody’s favorite functioning-alcoholic horse, Bojack Horseman.

On July 17, as reported by Variety, viewers will be treated to 12 new episodes of the show about a man (who’s also a horse) looking back on the horse-man he once was, and drinking himself into an early, oversized grave.

The series, which centers around the washed up ’80s TV star who can’t move on from the past, has become a modest hit for Will Arnett, who’s in need of a win. Towing several collapsed projects — the most recent being the newly-cancelled CBS sitcom The Millers — the actor’s brilliantly-abrasive comedic style has had a hard time finding a solid vehicle when it comes to life after his Arrested Development heyday as the loveable/terrible Gob Bluth (that’s Gob with a soft “G”).

Arnett stars in the show alongside another actor who’s had some trouble finding a permanent home after a seminal series, Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, who plays Bojack’s human roommate Todd Chavez. The cast is filled out by Bojack’s ghostwriter for his memoirs Diane Nguyen (played by Community’s Allison Brie) Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy) as Princess Carolyn the cat, and Paul F. Tompkins (Bob’s Burgers, Mr. Show with Bob and David) as Mr. Peanutbutter, the dog.

The series was created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, with Arnett and Paul serving as Executive producers for the series, along with Steven A. Cohen, and Noel Bright.

Arnett will be kept busy with his Netflix work, according to Variety, as the streaming platform/network will be premiering a new comedy starring Arnett called Flaked next year. And, of course, there’s also the forthcoming Arrested Development Season 5, for which a launch date has yet to be confirmed.

Bojack Horseman Season 2 will premiere on Netflix Friday, July 12.

Gabriel Basso in The Night Agent.

The first month of the year can set the tone for everything that comes after. If the new titles in January are any indication of what's to come, Netflix is starting 2025 off with a bang. On the very first day of the month, Netflix will add Interstellar, Inception, the Rush Hour trilogy, the original Spider-Man trilogy, and more. Two days later, the classic characters Wallace and Gromit are back in a new animated film, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.

On January 6, WWE Raw comes to Netflix with a stacked episode of main event-worthy matches. Later in the month, The Night Agent returns for its second season, as does XO, Kitty. And as part of Netflix's deal with AMC, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will be arriving as well.
