OrangeCon to kick off Orange is the New Black premiere in NYC

#OrangeCon - The Ultimate Fan Event - OITNB
Who ever thought a show about a group of eccentric inmates in a female prison could spark this much excitement? Orange is the New Black‘s third season will premiere next month, and the event has inspired a who’s who celebration in New York City entitled OrangeCon, reports

Variety. The invitation-only event for uber-fans and press is intended to help celebrate the upcoming kick-off to the new season in style.

The full third season of the show, which starts Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Uzo Aduba, Laverne Cox, Taryn Manning, and Natasha Lyonne, will become available to Netflix subscribers starting June 12. And on the day prior (June 11), fans will gather at Skylight Clarkson SQ in SOHO to enjoy a panel discussion with the cast and creators, autograph signing, and a special screening of the first episode.

Season 2 ended with (spoiler alert) villain Vee meeting her unfortunate end, leaving the third season open for plenty of additional drama. The trailer, released last month, shows an expected mix of brawls, tears, and Crazy Eyes’ interesting interpretation of a love story. That said, series creator Jenji Kohan told Variety that the latest season will be lighter than the previous one, with more focus on motherhood and faith.

For those uninitiated, the show is based on the real-life story of Piper Kerman, a blonde city girl who gets mixed up with a bad crew and ends up serving time in a woman’s prison. The storylines and characters are loosely inspired by her own experiences. Already in the first two seasons, we’ve seen Piper (played by Taylor Schilling) spiral from a cute, naive young woman to one who has learned the need to exude confidence and intimidation in order to ensure survival among her fellow inmates.

Black Mirror season 6 trailer unleashes new nightmares
Aaron Paul in Black Mirror season 6.

What is the Black Mirror? It's your phone when it's turned off, or your monitor when it's unattended. Most of the time, it's brightly lit and if you're reading this now, then you're currently looking at it. It's an abyss, and sometimes it stares back at you. As for the Black Mirror TV series, think of it as a modern-day Twilight Zone without the redemptive stories. This show presents social media and technological horrors that can make your skin crawl with very few fantastical touches. But as you can see in the first full trailer for Black Mirror season 6, this is a series where reality is subjective at best.

Klipsch’s new Reference Premiere subwoofers kick some serious bass
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-1600SW seen with other Reference Premiere speakers.

If you're a fan of Klipsch's Reference Premiere line of speakers and you've been patiently waiting for a powered subwoofer to match, your wait is over. The company has just released four new subs for the Reference Premiere family that start at $750 and feature a new design and tons of power. The RP-1000SW ($749), RP-1200SW ($999), and RP-1400SW ($1,399) will be available staring March 1 at Klipsch.com and authorized retailers, while the flagship RP-1600SW ($1,799) will be available sometime in either April or May 2023.

Each of the new subs features Klipsch's iconic front-firing spun copper Cerametallic woofer in sizes that range from 10 inches to 16 inches. These drivers have been redesigned as ultra long throw transducers with oversized surrounds.  Power comes from new class D amplifiers, and Klipsch claims that it's a highly efficient system. The enclosures, covered in an impact-resistant wood-inspired vinyl, have a rounded-corner shape, which is a new approach for the usually very angular and straight-edged Reference Premiere family.
