U.S. President Mark Cuban gets gun-happy in teaser for Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No

Skarknado 3: Oh Hell No! - Wednesday July 22nd 9/8c | Syfy
Just when you thought the skies were free of airborne apex predators, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! comes along to remind you that you are never, ever safe from shark-filled meteorological events — even if you live in the nation’s capital.

This week, SyFy released the first teaser for the upcoming television movie that will turn the Sharknado franchise into a bona fide trilogy. And along with the requisite shots of flying sharks, the teaser also features a few scenes with some of the film’s celebrity cameos, most notably entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban as the U.S. President.

Given what we’re shown in the teaser, Cuban’s version of the U.S. President doesn’t seem to shy away from taking up arms to defend the White House from the threat of flying sharks.

Where previous installments of the franchise have chronicled the historic clash between man and storm-riding shark in Los Angeles (Sharknado) and New York City (Sharknado 2: The Second One), the third film brings the battle to Washington, D.C. before churning its way down the East Coast.

Franchise stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, and Cassie Scerbo return for Sharknado 3, and they’re joined by a long list of familiar faces in supporting roles and cameo appearances. Along with Cuban, the new additions to the Sharknado family include David Hasselhoff, Bo Derek, Ann Coulter (playing the Vice President of the U.S.), Michele Bachmann, Jerry Springer, *NSYNC singer Chris Kirkpatrick, and professional wrestler Chris Jericho.

Like its predecessors, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! will be directed by Anthony C. Ferrante.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premieres Wednesday, July 22 at 9:00 p.m. EST on SyFy. The film will be broadcast across all Syfy channels around the world — including channels in the UK, Australia, Asia, and Latin America — within 24 hours of its U.S. debut.

And while you’re watching the film, make sure to keep in mind one very important question posed by the third installment of the Sharknado franchise. Who would win in a fight: Mark Cuban’s gun-toting, shark-killing U.S. President or Bill Pullman’s fighter-pilot president in Independence Day? (Be prepared to show your work).

Two men sit and talk in Body of Lies.

Welcome to the week of Ridley Scott. The 86-year-old filmmaker's next movie is Gladiator II, the 29th feature film in his illustrious five-decade career. The sequel to the Oscar-winning Gladiator, Gladiator II stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, the former heir to the throne and son of Maximus (Russell Crowe) and Lucilla (Connie Nielsen). After Roman forces kill his wife and force him into slavery, Lucius trains to be a gladiator and sets his sights on exacting his vengeance against the Empire.

Gladiator II will definitely be an awesome theatrical experience. After seeing Gladiator II, why not revisit more projects in Scott's filmography? Are you ready to get Glicked this weekend? No, I didn't call you a dirty name, that's the actual moniker being used for the simultaneous release of Wicked and Gladiator II. I'm not going to see either this weekend as both are expected to make tons of cash and draw in a lot of crowds in theaters over the next few days.

I'm content to stay in this weekend and queue up a good movie (or three) on Netflix. Feel the same way? Well, here's a handy list of a few underrated movies that are worth your time. You can always watch Glicked later in the year ... or never, if that's more your vibe.
