David Guetta, who has long helped push electronic dance music to the mainstream, now has a major streaming music accolade to his name: 2 billion Spotify streams. The DJ becomes the third artist to pass the milestone, joining singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran and rapper Eminem as Spotify’s most-played artists. The 47-year old Frenchman is also the most-followed artist on Spotify with 6.8 million followers.

“I want to thank you so much for helping me reach this incredible milestone, 2 billion streams on Spotify,” Guetta said in a statement. “Wow, mind blowing!” His 2014 album Listen certainly helped him reach the landmark: The song Bad contributed 200 million of those plays, and his latest single Hey Mama (feat. Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha) has notched 95 million plays.

“It is amazing to see David add his name to the very select 2 billion streams club,” said Warner Music exec Bart Cools in a statement. “He is the first DJ to reach this milestone which is an amazing achievement but looking at how dance is exploding at the moment as a genre, I am sure he will be followed by others very soon. A big thank you to Spotify for working with us to make all this happen, and massive thanks to David who keeps making amazing music that people love!”

While certainly an accomplishment for electronic music as a genre, David Guetta doesn’t have time to rest on his laurels. He has dozens upon dozens of appearances upcoming, including regular appearances in Ibiza’s glamorous clubs and at festivals across Europe.

In the meantime, we expect his Spotify plays to continue to rise. “It is also worth noting that he achieved this landmark thanks to his huge fan base of over 15 million fans on Spotify who listen to his music every month, and who together helped him hit this landmark in record time,” added Spotify exec Will Hope.

It's a 21-speaker, 800-watt, dual-amplifier system that Lucid has dubbed "Surreal Sound."  It will be standard equipment in every Lucid Air Dream Edition and Grand Touring trim models, and optional equipment for the Touring and Pure trim levels.
