Watch Chris Tucker channel MJ in his first comedy special trailer

Back in March, Netflix announced plans to host actor/comedian Chris Tucker’s very first stand-up comedy special. With Chris Tucker Live premiering on the streaming platform later this week, the first trailer for the special is now available to watch online.

The first project that Tucker has starred in and produced through his Chris Tucker Entertainment production company, Chris Tucker Live promises to showcase the Rush Hour actor’s comedic chops with a trip down memory lane, from his childhood through his big-screen career. The special was filmed at the Historic Fox Theatre in Tucker’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.

The special is directed by Gridiron Gang filmmaker Phil Joanou, who also directed the 2012 short film The Punisher: Dirty Laundry.

Although he was a frequent performer on Def Comedy Jam early in his career, Tucker has never been featured in a stand-up comedy special prior to Chris Tucker Live. After getting his big break in the 1995 film Friday alongside Ice Cube, Tucker’s big-screen career took off with featured roles in films such as The Fifth ElementRush Hour, and most recently, The Silver Linings Playbook. Tucker co-starred in all three Rush Hour movies with Jackie Chan, and he shared the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Cast in 2012 with the rest of his Silver Linings Playbook cast mates.

However, the comedian/actor has been largely out of the spotlight as of late. A return to the Rush Hour franchise for a fourth installment of the series has long been rumored, but has yet to be confirmed.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with Netflix, one of the true global leaders in entertainment, on my first comedy special,” said Tucker of the special when it was first announced. “Before people started seeing me in movies, I was doing standup. It’s always been a part of me, and now I’m excited to share it with my fans around the world.”

Chris Tucker Live will debut July 10 on Netflix and will be able to be viewed everywhere the streaming service is available internationally.

If you’ve been shopping around for a new TV, your brain is likely chock-full of acronyms and tech terms. We’re willing to bet that you’ve seen one group of letters again and again while researching the best TVs of 2024: QLED. An acronym for “Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode,” a QLED TV combines traditional LED backlighting with a layer of quantum dots. (We have a full explainer that answers the "what is QLED" question, too.) When charged, these dots enhance the brightness, colors, and contrast levels of a QLED, making for some of the most vibrant colors you’ll ever see on a modern set. And because they can get so bright, QLED TVs are some of the best sets for brightly lit rooms.

If you're on the hunt for the best TV for whatever you're into — movies and TV, sports, or gaming (check out our list of the best gaming TVs) — sitting at the top of the TV pyramid are OLED TVs. In lieu of traditional LED backlighting, OLED TVs use millions of self-emissive pixels (that create their own light and are not backlit) to create rich colors, inky blacks, and zero light blooming — in short, arguably the best picture in the business. Over the last several years, LG has been the predominant manufacturer of OLED TVss, but now the company competes with Samsung and Sony in the OLED marketplace.
