Earlier this week, a portion of the trailer for Burnt — a chef comedy starring Bradley Cooper — aired on the Today Show, piquing the curiosity of movie fans. Today, we got the whole shebang as the nearly two-minute spot hit the interwebs and made stomachs grumble across America.
The film, which also stars Sienna Miller (American Sniper), Omar Sy (Intouchables), and Uma Thurman, follows the comeback campaign of troubled-but-talented Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper). Check out the official synopsis below:
Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star though, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller). BURNT is a remarkably funny and emotional story about the love of food, the love between two people, and the power of second chances.
Drugs, violence, obsession, redemption — though this is billed as a comedy, the trailer is short on laughs and seems to strike a rather serious tone. Think Jon Favreau’s Chef but with a couple extra tablespoons of tension.
“When I was 16 I quit school, I saved just enough for a one-way ticket to Paris” says a disembodied Cooper as the trailer begins, going on to muse “maybe I just wanted it really bad and when I got it too early I didn’t know how to hold on to it.”
While the spot plays, the whisking, beating, and stirring of kitchen implements provides the backdrop for the culinary action. If you’re a foodie or restaurateur, this looks to be right up your alley. That said, you don’t need to be able to appreciate a perfect souffle to sink your teeth into a good film.
Burnt will open its doors to the public on October 23, 2015. Reservations are accepted.
