This week, Beck and St. Vincent joined a long list of celebs that pop superstar Taylor Swift has brought out for her 1989 arena tour. The three sang together on Beck’s recent electropop jam Dreams during a Swift performance in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The appearance was probably the first time many T-Swift fans had heard either of the artists live, but that didn’t stop the young mega star from bringing the artists onto the Staples Center stage to open the ears of her rabid fan base to a different kind of pop hitmaker.
“Getting to play ‘Dreams’ with Beck and St. Vincent is something I’ll remember forever,” said Swift in a tweet after the performance. “I can’t even express it.” St. Vincent added similar sentiments in a tweet: “Had the most MAGIC time with the most brilliant venerable Taylor Swift and Beck tonight. #DreamsComeTrue”

Fan-shot videos have shown the unlikely combo run through most of Beck’s song without a hitch, but the clear winner of the collaboration was Annie Clark. Clark (St. Vincent) shredded a solo amidst pyrotechnics — and even Swift herself was impressed. “There is nothing cooler than St. Vincent soloing while pyro goes off in the background. #1989TourLA,” she said via another tweet (above).
Beck and St. Vincent are just the latest of Swift’s guests, a celeb-laced list that shows the depth of her rolodex. Other on-stage guests this tour have included Alanis Morissette (yes, they sang You Oughta Know together), John Legend, Natalie Maines, Fetty Wap, and even comedians Ellen DeGeneres and Chris Rock.
Taylor Swift’s 1989 world tour, which began in May, continues through December. And, unsurprisingly, it’s a huge money maker: her first 20 performances in the U.S. and Canada grossed $86.2 million according to Billboard. Upcoming for Swift are a string of U.S. and Canadian dates through the end of October before she hits Asia and Australia in November and December.
