Amazon is bringing us Back to the Future. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the first film, the entire trilogy will be available for streaming or download at no additional cost for Prime members during the month of October. It’s the perfect gift for fans of the films, which star Michael J. Fox as Marty and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown.
This development is huge: It will be the first time the classic films have been available for unlimited viewing on a subscription VOD service, according to Variety. On top of that, Amazon’s Prime Video will be the only streaming service with the BTTF trilogy. If fan excitement could be harnessed into energy, it’d be enough to power a time-traveling DeLorean.
BTTF diehards may also want to take their chance to pre-order the 30th anniversary Blu-ray/DVD trilogy set, which includes amazing bonus features. Among the treasures to be found are original shorts starring Lloyd, back in character as Doc. The special edition bundle comes out on Oct. 20.
A particularly momentous day for BTTF aficionados will be the following day, Oct. 21, 2015; as you may remember, Marty and his girlfriend, Jennifer, journeyed to that date in Back to the Future Part II. It’ll be fun to re-watch the movie and compare life today to the 1989 film’s imagined version of it. You can also wonder why Doc and Marty didn’t realize it would be a bad idea to leave Jennifer passed out in an alley by herself.
For those who want to see the films on the big screen, the Back to the Future trilogy will also be back in theaters. The great part about Amazon, though, is that you can watch the films and easily order Calvin Klein underwear at the same time.
