Well, if you live in North America, you’re worth about $13.54, that’s about a $3.00 increase over last year. The global average is much lower — just over $3.00 a person Facebook collects — but that still means Facebook was able to pull in $5.8 Billion, $1 Billion of which was pure profit. Ok, this is starting to sound pretty impressive, but why is the world’s favorite social network so successful?
A lot of it has to do with the fact that Facebook is really good at mobile advertising, which makes up about 80% of its revenue, according to the report. It stands to be be a very good year for Facebook, too, with Occulus Rift on the way, and Instagram and SnapChat going nuts. Man, Zuckerberg, look what you did! Well played, sir.
Apple doesn’t do recalls very often. The last time it did, it was over the Beats Pill XL speaker for being a fire risk. But today, Apple is recalling AC wall plug adapters for iPads and Macs sold between 2003 and 2015 – yes, 12 years of products – sold in Europe, Brazil, South Korea, Argentina, New Zealand, and Australia, because they may shock you. Finally, any big fan of Back to the Future is lying if they tell you they wouldn’t love to have a DeLorean DMC-12, the iconic car/time travel machine that whizzed Doc, Marty, Biff, sometimes Einstein and Jennifer that one time, back and forth in time, wreaking all sorts of havoc on the space-time continuum.
Well, good news: The DeLorean Motor Company bought all the parts and tooling to build the DMC-12 back in 1997 from the original company that made it, but laws required they only sell kits for do-it-yourselfers to make the car. Now, a new law allows them to build them and sell them fully assembled, and that’s exactly what they’re going to do. The new version will reportedly get a much more powerful engine, new brakes to handle the added power, and some beefier alloy wheels.
No word yet on whether they’ll be outfitted with a Flux Capacitor just for fun, but, come on, that should at least be an option. Especially if they aren’t going to slap a Mr. Fusion on the back. Which brings up an interesting question: Why not just make these suckers electrical?
