The Lonely Island movie finally has a name. Actor Andy Samberg revealed the upcoming Universal Pictures comedy’s title along with the first poster during a Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance Monday, and each perfectly fit the group’s brand of humor. The flick is called Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
Samberg assured Kimmel that the movie is a real feature, complete with Judd Apatow serving as producer. Samberg stars in the film with the remaining members of the comedy trio, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, and the story centers on Conner4Real (played by Samberg), a rapper who finds himself trying needing to reunite his old boy band after his album flops. Samberg, Schaffer, and Taccone also doubled as producers, while Samberg and Schaffer wrote the screenplay and Schaffer and Taccone directed.
After Samberg revealed the title and poster, The Lonely Island’s Twitter account shared them as well.

After looking at the glittery poster, featuring Samberg posing in an all-white ensemble, Kimmel summed it up well: “That is very Bieber-y,” he told the actor. Samberg didn’t cite specific stars from which they drew inspiration, but it certainly seems possible that The Lonely Island was influenced by Justin Bieber and his career. The pop star previously starred in a documentary called Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. The movie’s poster featured Bieber in a very similar outfit, albeit with an all-black color scheme.
The Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping cast also includes Tim Meadows, who will play Conner4Real’s upbeat manager, as well as Sarah Silverman, Imogen Poots, and James Buckley.
Watch Samberg discuss the movie with Kimmel below, starting around the 10-second mark.
