Don't just get a new job — let Jobbatical hook you up with a whole new country

What Is Jobbatical?
Has the current state of American politics got you down? Is your current job just not doing it for you anymore? Really, really thinking about moving to Canada these days? Then you may want to join the tens of thousands of people who are looking to Jobbatical for a change of scenery. The Estonia-based startup puts job seekers in touch with potential employers, but the real kicker comes with the geography. These aren’t your run of the mill career options — rather, the positions made available through Jobbatical will take workers out of the country for 12 months, and drop them off in some pretty stellar locations.

Tapping into the wanderlust that has become synonymous with the quarter-life crisis of the millennial generation, Jobbatical allows its users to “switch environments but keep doing what you do best for a project that really excites you.” The company name, of course, is a portmanteau of the words “job” and “sabbatical,” and promises to help you recharge your batteries, expand your world view, and share new ideas, all without taking too heavy a toll on your wallet. Because as much as we’d all like to go on an Eat, Pray, Love adventure, not all of us are financially stable enough to do so. But with Jobbatical, you can go on a vacation that also pays the bills.

So where are Americans looking to go when they search for alternate places of work? While searches for how to move to Canada spiked after Super Tuesday’s results, interestingly enough, our northerly neighbors aren’t generally considered all that glamorous when it comes to a change of scenery. Instead, Jobbatical Marketing Chief Isabel Hirama tells us, it’s Singapore that tops the list of the most frequently searched destination for American workers, according to Jobbatical. Hong Kong comes in at second, and Tallinn (Estonia’s capital), makes it into a surprising third place. A number of European heavy hitters make up the rest of the list, and rounding out the top 10 is Japan, a country known for its diligent work ethic. Check out the full list below:

  1. Singapore
  2. Hong Kong
  3. Tallinn
  4. London
  5. Berlin
  6. Spain
  7. Australia
  8. France
  9. Italy
  10. Japan

After all, the company notes that over 1,200 companies from more than 40 different countries have posted jobs, and over 300 individuals have already been successfully matched and relocated. So take that trip you’ve been meaning to take — and keep a job while you’re at it.

How to get your stimulus check if you don’t file taxes
how to file for stimulus

The IRS is sending all Americans, including both taxpayers and non-taxpayers, stimulus checks as part of a $2 trillion initiative to combat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

While the IRS will use the most recent tax filings to determine how much taxpayers will receive in their stimulus checks, non-taxpayers are also eligible for financial aid.
Where to enter information?
Non-taxpayers will need to visit the IRS' dedicated webpage for COVID-19 stimulus checks, click on the blue button that says "Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here," and the same button on the succeeding page.

PayPal vs. Venmo vs. Cash App vs. Apple Cash: which app should you use?
PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and Apple Wallet apps on an iPhone.

We’re getting closer every day to an entirely cashless society. While some folks may still carry around a few bucks for emergencies, electronic payments are accepted nearly everywhere, and as mobile wallets expand, even traditional credit and debit cards are starting to fall by the wayside.

That means many of us are past the days of tossing a few bills onto the table to pay our share of a restaurant tab or slipping our pal a couple of bucks to help them out. Now, even those things are more easily doable from our smartphones than our physical wallets.
