We’re still heading into summer, but TV networks are already looking ahead to the 2016-17 fall season. As such, NBC on Tuesday announced premiere dates for its fall lineup, which includes the return of relatively new shows like the hit Blindspot, long-running staples such as Law & Order: SVU, and newcomers like the buzzworthy drama This Is Us.
The first of the fall shows will hit NBC in mid-September, but premieres will continue into early October. First on the list is Blindspot, which kicks off season 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday, September 14. The ball really gets rolling the next week when nine shows premiere: The Voice; The Good Place, a new comedy starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson; Law & Order: SVU; Chicago P.D.; Superstore; Chicago Med; The Blacklist; Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon; and Dateline NBC.
There’s a lull during the last week of September, but a couple more premieres trickle in as October begins. Both new time-travel thriller Timeless and Chicago Fire bow early in the month. By the time the latter premieres on October 11, the shows should be more or less settled in their respective time spots.
Viewers can expect a couple of time shifts during the first few weeks of the season. After its premiere, Blindspot moves the next week to its usual time at 8 p.m. Wednesdays. Additionally, The Good Place will get the benefit of premiering directly after The Voice on Monday, September 19, but it will then move to 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on Thursdays starting September 22. Meanwhile, This Is Us will also follow The Voice initially when it debuts on Tuesday, September 20, but it will later move to 9 p.m. Tuesdays starting October 11.
