Pictures: 2012 Dodge Charger Pursuit

The 2012 Charger Pursuit is Dodge’s latest foray into law-enforcement vehicles. It comes with one of two engines: an aluminum 3.6-liter Penastar V-6 engine which delivers 292 horsepower and a 260 lb.ft of torque and Dodge claims up to 27 mpg highway. The other engine is 5.7 V8 Hemi that they say can get up to 25 mpg highway. Flex-fuel capabilities are also available.

The Pursuit comes with large car rear-wheel drive architecture from Chrysler Group and Nivomat shocks, and two-mode police-specific Electronic Stability Control.

Some of the safety equipment includes multi-stage driver and front-passenger air bags, seat-mounted side-thorax air bags, and supplemental side-curtain air bags for front and rear outboard passengers, as well as a driver’s knee bag.

Charging is changing in the U.S. -- and quickly. Tesla has all but won the war for the standard charging connector, meaning that charging will likely get a whole lot more convenient in the near future. But on top of that, charging networks are also expanding -- with the likes of Mercedes-Benz jumping in on the action.

Earlier this year, Mercedes announced that it would be building charging stations in partnership with MN8 Energy. More recently, it shared that it was finally planning on opening up the first of these stations in October.

Charging your EV is about to get easier, as carmakers team up to build 30,000 chargers

EVs certainly have all of the hype in the car industry right now, but their adoption has been hampered by one major issue: public charging. Where do I charge? How fast can I charge? And how much will it cost? Going through those mental hurdles will keep folks away from making the switch to an EV -- even if the reality is that it's not as complicated as it seems.

To help accelerate the EV transition, and more importantly provide the necessary infrastructure for anyone who already has an EV, a consortium of automakers has announced a massive investment in EV chargers in North America. The group of seven major companies -- BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Stellantis -- is investing collectively in installing a whopping 30,000 EV chargers along major highways and in urban areas.
