The words ‘luxury’ and ‘tank’ don’t go together often, but the Ripsaw EV2 doesn’t give a damn about conventions or customs. When the apocalypse comes, you simply need to think bigger.
The ‘luxury super tank,’ made by Howe and Howe Technologies, is simply one of the fastest, most capable, and most intimidating dual tracked vehicles ever made. With 12 inches of suspension travel, 600 diesel horsepower, and chunky, zombie-squishing treads, it could be just what the doctor ordered for the end of the world.
We previewed the EV2 (which stands for Extreme Vehicle 2) back in April, but the Howe and Howe team is back with a updated, more refined version.
The Ripsaw is sleeker than before with a menacing black paint job, and the interior has been tweaked to provide more luxury than its Army-esque exterior would lead you to believe. Considering it was originally designed for the military as a high-speed super tank, the EV2 is basically the Mercedes S-Class of off-road vehicles.
It might seem easy to compare the Ripsaw’s sinister look to the chase vehicles in Mad Max: Fury Road, but the U.S.-made light tank was actually featured in the film, albeit with a slightly different look.
Drenched in post-apocalyptic sand, the Ripsaw was dubbed The Peacemaker, and featured the shell of a Chrysler Valiant Charger stretched over the EV2’s sturdy frame. We won’t spoil any movie details here, but the vehicle was piloted by a character called The Bullet Farmer, which tells you all you need to know.
As far as the standard version, there’s no exact word on price, but the development team says the EV2 can take up to 6 months to fabricate and can cost “well into the 100s of thousands depending on desired luxury and performance packages.”
