Among the myriad music options available in new cars, Spotify is a pretty popular one. Volvo certainly thinks so, which is why the Swedish carmaker is adding Spotify to its latest-generation infotainment system.

Spotify will soon become available in the XC90 crossover, as well as the upcoming S90 sedan and V90 station wagon, Volvo announced at the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The music-streaming service will be available to Volvo owners in all countries where Spotify is already available. Volvo claims it’s the first carmaker to offer Spotify in all markets simultaneously.

Accessing Spotify in a Volvo will require a Premium subscription, although new owners will get a 30-day free trial. It can stream through Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay, which Volvo began rolling out on new cars in December. Volvo’s Sensus infotainment system also has its own interface for the service.

Spotify integration will most likely be available on the S90 and V90 at launch. The S90 goes on sale in the U.S. later this year, and the V90 is expected to follow sometime later. Since the XC90 is already on sale, Volvo may allow owners to upgrade their cars with Spotify, as it did with CarPlay.

While features like Spotify and CarPlay help keep products competitive today, Volvo has much bigger plans for its in-car infotainment systems. It views infotainment functions as an important part of its plan to make self-driving cars available to the masses in the near future. Because if you’re not driving, you’ll need something to pass the time with, right?

Volvo is currently partnering with Ericsson to develop high-bandwidth streaming for future self-driving cars, including the ability to pair content with a given trip. At the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, Volvo also unveiled the Concept 26, a car interior that could morph into an infotainment-optimized configuration when a vehicle is operating autonomously.

Volvo EX90 price, range, specs, trim options, and more
Front three quarter view of the 2024 Volvo EX90.

It hasn't always been a great time to buy an electric SUV, but that's finally changing. We already have options like the Rivian R1S and the Kia EV9, but there's another option coming, and it could end up proving itself as a great option for those who like Volvo's style and tech. The Volvo EX90 is a cousin to the ultra-low-cost EX30 and offers the same Scandinavian sense of style, combined with high-tech features and good electric range.

The EX90 isn't here yet though -- and in fact, it seems to have been delayed. While Volvo has announced the car and a number of its features, there's still a lot to learn about it. Curious to learn more? Here's everything we know about the Volvo EX90 so far.
Volvo EX90 release date
The Volvo EX90 has had a bit of a rough go when it comes to its release. Originally, the car was set to launch in the first half of 2024. However, the vehicle was originally set to be manufactured in China. After new tariffs were imposed on Chinese-built electric vehicles, Volvo reportedly had to change its plans, moving production to Belgium. If those reports turn out to be true, the move could push the release date of the vehicle in North America to 2025.

New Rivian R1S: Everything new in the second-gen model
Second-Gen Rivian R1S

The Rivian R1S is arguably the best large electric SUV out there, especially for those who want three rows of seats and are willing to pay a premium. The vehicle offers a rugged build, excellent software, a great range, and a sleek design. Only around two years after the original Rivian R1S began rolling out to first buyers, Rivian has launched a new, second-generation version of the vehicle.

But what's actually different about the new Rivian R1S? At first glance, it more or less looks the same -- so should you trade in your first-gen model for a new one? Here's a look at everything new in the second-generation Rivian R1S.
Design and interior
The overall exterior design of the Rivian R1S is more or less the same. That's a good thing. Personally, I love the look of Rivian's cars, and plenty of others do too. It's stylish without being too serious -- and the buggy oval headlights on the front are unique and fun.
