Averatec Unveils Ultrathrifty Ultraportable

Budget manufacturer Averatec continued to build its line of low-cost notebooks on Friday with the introduction of the 12.1-inch 2575 ultraportable. The new laptop includes joins Averatec’s three other 12.1-inch models with a feature set Averatec says is intended to balance work and play.

Breaking Averatec’s usual silver-colored styling, the 2575 gets a more subdued black color scheme and angular lines reminiscent of the ThinkPad. The total package weighs just 3.9 pounds, with a profile Averatec claims is “ultra-thin,” although exact dimensions are not provided.

Under its new exterior, the machine gets a 2.2GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 processor, along with 2GB of RAM and ATI’s integrated RS690 chipset providing graphics. Other accoutrements include a built-in DVD burner, Wi-Fi, 4-in-1 card reader, and PCIe slot.

The Averatec 2575 is on sale immediately for $1099 directly through Averatec.
