Dell Brings Inspiron 15 Notebook to its Design Studio

Dell Brings Inspiron 15 Notebook to its Design Studio

More than a year ago, computer maker Dell began offering a series and stylized covers for notebook computers—starting off with its Studio series—to let users express their personalities and creativity, rather than going with a bland same-old same-old notebook lid. The program must be popular, because Dell keeps expanding artwork options for the program, and now it has brought the Design Studio offerings to its Inspiron 15, which the company claims to be its most popular consumer model.

Dell’s Design Studio offers an interactive gallery of more than 200 lid personalization options for a variety of Dell notebooks, including custom artwork from a number of notable artists, as well as PRODUCT (RED) covers that contribute money to fight AIDS in Africa.

Some 113 covers are now available for the Inspiron 15. Studio Design covers typically add $60 to the cost of a notebook.

Dell knocks $450 off it’s Dell G16 gaming laptop with RTX 4070
A woman using the Dell G16 gaming laptop in a coffee shop.

Gaming laptops have come a long way from the past few years when they used to be massive and bulky, and if you're looking for a great mid-range option, this configuration of the Dell G16 is worth checking out. The Dell G16 is actually an updated version of the older G15, which was a bit of a workhorse when it comes to budget-oriented gaming laptops. In this case, you get a great laptop with an RTX 40-series GPU from Dell directly for just $1,300, which is $450 off the usual $1,750 it goes for.

Why you should buy the Dell G16 Gaming Laptop
As the name might suggest, the Dell G16 comes with a 16-inch screen that runs a 2560 x 1600 resolution, with the ability to hit a whopping 240Hz refresh rate, which is perfect for those who enjoy playing competitive games. Under the hood you get yourself an RTX 4070 mobile, which is roughly equivalent to the performance of a desktop RTX 4060. Even so, it's a solid card for gaming at 2K, although you will have to make some graphical compromises, especially if you're aiming for higher refresh rates than 100 or so.

Intel is bringing back one of its most frustrating types of CPUs
Intel Core Ultra Series 2 Lunar Lake chipset.

Intel's new Arrow Lake CPUs are a big deal. They utilize an entirely new architecture and come with a new socket, which will help them compete for a spot among the best processors. However, it looks like some upcoming Core 200-series CPUs (the non-Ultra versions) might not use the Arrow Lake/Lunar Lake architecture at all -- they might be rebranded CPUs sporting older CPU tech.

The assumption comes from results in the Crossmark benchmark that were posted to Bapco and first pointed out by Everest on X (formerly Twitter). The result shows the Core 5 210H, but it's not the performance that's interesting. It's the specs. The result shows that the CPU comes with eight cores and 12 threads. That's the rub. Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake don't come with Hyper-Threading, so each core only comes with a single thread.
