Beginning today, Dell will be accepting pre-orders via its official web store for certain devices sporting Windows 10. Orders will ship on July 29th, the same day Microsoft releases its new OS, and customers looking to take advantage of Dell’s Same Day Ship program will receive pre-ordered items as early as the 30th.

“Dell and Microsoft have worked hand-in-hand to develop Dell experiences that maximize the capabilities of Windows 10 for our customers,” writes Allison Dew of Direct2Dell, the official Dell corporate blog. “Thousands of engineering hours and unprecedented collaboration have led to what we believe is a great release imprinted with Dell feedback — or should we say, your feedback. Through more than 2 billion contacts we have with you each year, we have taken your feedback and relayed it to our teams and partners to ensure your Windows 10 experience on Dell is top notch.”

These includes touch functionality, such as with Continuum, which has been optimized for Dell’s high-resolution InfinityEdge displays. Likewise, a partnership with Waves MaxxAudio is said to have improved speech recognition with Cortana, and Dell insists that Intel’s RealSense 3D cameras will make for a most serviceable experience in conjunction with the Windows Hello secure sign-in features.

Not ready for Windows 11? The Windows 10 November 2021 update is coming
Windows 10 refresh features.

If your PC is one of the many that are unable to officially run Windows 11, then you might want to get ready for the next big Windows 10 Update. Microsoft just announced that it is taking final steps and getting ready to launch the Windows 10 November 2021 Update.

This next version of Windows 10 underwent over five months of testing with Windows Insiders and is now in its final phases. There aren't any big features that come along with it, but Microsoft notes that build 19044.1288 is the final build for the November 2021 Update.

Xbox Windows 10 Remote Play

A new update came out today for Windows 10 PCs that allows direct streaming of console games from the Xbox App. Ultimate Game Pass subscribers can now stream their console games directly onto their PCs and will not require a download.

While this seems like a simple update that probably should have come sooner than now, it's a significant update for PC owners. Since players will be able to stream games, those who do not own the fastest and beefiest computers can still play high-spec games.

Microsoft warns select Windows 11 beta testers to move back to Windows 10 now
Laptop screen featuring a Windows update screen.

Microsoft is sending a warning out to those who managed to beta test Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. It is now time to go back to Windows 10, as your device is no longer eligible to join the Windows Insider program on Windows 11.

While the message might seem shocking, it is actually a long time in the making. When Microsoft first announced Windows 11 in June, they had allowed all Windows Insiders who were already testing previous Windows 10 builds to beta test the operating system. It was intended as a "limited exception" thank-you gift to the Windows fans, but now that an official October 5 Windows 11 release date has been announced, Microsoft is ready to move on.
