For those frugal few still working off of giant CRT monitors because it’s just too expensive to upgrade to a comparably sized LCD, that may no longer be the case. California-based Envision Peripherals expanded its Professional Series monitor line on Wednesday with a 20-inch monitor that’s big on screen acreage but not so much on price.
The Envision G2016wa sports full 1680 x 1050 native resolution, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 5ms response time that should make it appropriate for video games and movies. It has five different modes of operation for different environments, including Eco Mode, which regulates power consumption depending on the task at hand. An HDCP-compatible DVI-D input also means it can connect to cable and satellite boxes for watching television content.
Of course, the biggest selling point for the G2016wa might well be its price tag of $239.99, which places it in the low-budget range for 20-inch monitors. Envision has already made the display available at major online retailers.
