iSkin Keyboard Covers Satisfy Germaphobes

iSkin Keyboard Covers Satisfy Germaphobes

With iSkin already offering a line of protective gadget covers for those who can’t be bothered to wash their hands before manhandling their MacBooks with orange Cheez Doodle fingers, it only makes sense that the next step was a cover that kept germs at bay as well. The company announced on Friday that its ProTouch keyboard covers now come with Microban, a protective material that prevents microbes from spreading.

The germaphobe-friendly material is already used in hundreds of other heavily handled consumer products, from can openers to lunchboxes. It works by disrupting the cell functions of bacteria, fungus, algae and other microbes, preventing them from spreading.

iSkin also added the ProTouch FX to its product line on Friday. The new covers feature printed two-tone patterns including clear-frosted Arctic, translucent-blue Sonic, and translucent pink Blush. All of the company’s ProTouch and ProTouch FX models retail for between $24.99 and $34.99 online.

5 reasons the iPad Pro can’t replace the MacBook, even with the Magic Keyboard
why ipad pro magic keyboard cant replace macbook typing 1200x9999

When it comes to the iPad, Apple loves to make a controversial statement or two. Remember when CEO Tim Cook said, “Why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?” Or the commercial with the iPad-toting kid that sparked rage in the PC world with the question “What’s a computer?”

Thanks to the iPad Pro’s new Magic Keyboard, you may find yourself agreeing with Mr. Cook and friends. It has all sorts of advantages over a MacBook, and its floating magnetic design is downright cool.

Apple’s transformative Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro arrives early
Profile view of the Apple Magic Keyboard.

The accessory that is poised to change the way you use your brand new iPad is almost here. Apple has confirmed the new Magic Keyboard is now available to pre-order, and will start being shipped April 23. It was initially announced when the iPad Pro 2020 series was revealed earlier this year, and wasn’t expected until May, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see an early release.

Why will it transform your tablet experience? The main reason is it has a trackpad below the keyboard that takes advantage of the support baked into the latest iPadOS 13.4 software. It’s not a replacement for using the touchscreen, which is still the main way you’ll interact with the tablet, and its designed as a complementary control method instead. The trackpad provides more precise control over a cursor on the screen than with your finger, for example.

I tried the RayNeo Air 2s glasses and they’re on sale for Black Friday
RayNeo Air 2s on custom Steam Deck - Briley Kenney Digital Trends_edited

With the holidays coming, I've been trying a spat of unique VR and AR devices. One pair I got my hands on, called the RayNeo Air 2s, basically gives you a portable 201-inch display that you can put on and use anytime, anywhere. They work with Android, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and -- my favorite -- Steam Deck. Our team has used the RayNeo Air 2 previously and also gave them high marks. Fun Fact I learned from reading that, RayNeo is actually a TCL brand. As for what I think of them, we'll get to that. For now, I want to talk about the crazy RayNeo Black Friday deals that have just dropped.

RayNeo Air 2 -- $184, was $380 51% off
