eMachines has introduced a new EL1300 series of small form factor PCs that feature glossy all-white casings, user-friendly designs, and pricetags that may appeal to recession-wary consumers. The company has also introduced a new desktop PC monitor with a matching white design so users can get a complete PC system with a contemporary look without breaking their budgets.
“Alternative color choices have been making their way into notebook lines for some time now,” said eMachines desktop products senior manager Glenn Jystad, in a statement. “With the arrival of spring and summer, it’s the perfect time to introduce a fresh, clean alternative color choice to our desktops and monitors, bringing an exciting new look and feel to desktop PCs.”
The EL1300G-01w and EL1300G-02w are pretty similar systems: each feature a 1.6 GHz AMD Athlon 2650e processor, support for up to 4 GB of RAM (the 01w ships with 2 GB, the 02w ships with 1 GB), Nvidia GeForce 6150SE graphics, a 160 GB hard drive, an 18× DVD±R/RW Supermulti DVD burner with Labelflash technology, a multi-in-one digital media card reader, a whopping 9 USB pots (five in front, four in back), gigabit Ethernet, and VGA output. Both PCs are 10.7 inches tall, 4.2 inches wide, and 15 inches deep, and weigh about 12 pounds.
The EL1300G-01w starts at just $298, while the EL1300G-02w starts at $398 but includes a 20-inch 1,600 by 900-pixel LCD monitor—and both are currently available exclusively through Wal-mart. eMachines has also announced a new E182H 18.5-inch widescreen LCD with a matching white look, VGA input, 1,366 by 768 pixel resolution, 5ms response time, and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The E182H should have a suggested retail price of $119.
