LaCie Offers 1.3-inch Portable Hard Drive

It’s funny: some of LaCie’s hard disk products keep getting bigger, adding more bays and more capacity, while others keep getting smaller. LaCie’s latest update to its Little Disk form factor packs either a 30 or 40 GB 1.3-inch hard disk drive into a package that barely fills the palm of your hand, offering a solution for folks who need portable storage but don’t have much room to carry it.

The 30 and40 GB Little Disks pack 1.3-inch, 3,600 rpm hard disk drives from Samsung, which were designed to offer the most efficient use of capacity per volume. “The development of these small products was enabled due to Samsung’s new 1.3-inch technology that offers a small footprint with vast capacity improvement,” said LaCie mobile product manager Nolwenn Rozen, in a statement. “By using this technology in these new mobile offerings, LaCie was able to see an increase in maximum capacity from 12GB to 40GB.” The Little Disk’s operate off power from a USB 2.0 port and operate without drives on Mac OS X 10.2 or newer, Windows 2000/XP/Vista, and Linux systems. The 30 GB version of the Little Disk is $129.99, with the 40 GB version retailing for $159.99.

Though it may not capture as many headlines as its rivals from Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI do, Anthropic's Claude is no less powerful than its frontier model peers.

In fact, the latest version, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, has proven more than a match for Gemini and ChatGPT across a number of industry benchmarks. In this guide, you'll learn what Claude is, what it can do best, and how you can get the most out of using this quietly capable chatbot.

This may be your last chance to buy an RTX 40-series GPU at MSRP
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU.

Just last week, we reported on the end of production for the RTX 40-series. Now, new information from Board Channels (shared by Gazlog) suggests that the final shipments of Nvidia's best graphics cards are right around the corner. Some GPUs, like the RTX 4090, have already seen their final shipments. With the holidays on the horizon, now might be the last time to buy the RTX 40-series at a decent price before stock levels begin dwindling.

Despite being two years old, Nvidia's RTX 40-series has held up in terms of GPU prices. Only the RTX 4090 went up from its original recommended list price (MSRP), with the rest of the lineup  holding steady and mostly hovering around the launch price. Things might take a turn for the worse, though, if this report ends up being true.

Nvidia’s new GPUs are already running into problems
Nvidia Blackwell chips.

Nvidia's latest Blackwell GPUs are running into problems in the data center, reports The Information. According to the report, Nvidia's customers are worried about how well the AI accelerators will hold up, as overheating issues have caused delays in server racks being deployed for AI training.

The Blackwell architecture is at the heart of both Nvidia's next-gen AI accelerators and its upcoming RTX 50-series graphics cards. In the data center, the architecture was previously delayed due to "design flaws," pushing the deployment of the B100 and B200 GPUs back. That's despite big orders with AI players like Meta, Microsoft, and Google.
