Lenovo rounded out its new IdeaPad family of consumer notebooks on Tuesday with an 11-inch kid sister to join its larger 15.4-inch and 17-inch offerings. The tiny IdeaPad U110 will serve as the most mobile computer in the line, and also the priciest.

Making weight a priority, Lenovo has kept the U110 to less than 2.5 pounds with the standard four-cell battery. To make the most of such a tiny 11-inch form factor, the notebook’s screen sports a frameless design, as well as a viewing angle Lenovo claims is “infinite-like.” The U110’s textured metal lid can be finished in either black or red.

Performance specs include a choice of Intel Centrino processors, a 120GB hard drive, and memory up to 3GB. As you might expect from a 2.5-pound notebook, there’s no optical drive, but Lenovo did manage to include a fair number of other extras, including standard Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth, and a webcam that uses Veriface Face Recognition to substitute for a password.

The IdeaPad U110 will start at $1,899 when it goes on sale in mid-May. Like Lenovo’s other IdeaPads, it will be available at retailers including Micro Center, Newegg, and Tiger Direct, but also a batch of newly announced distributors, including B&H, CompUSA, J&R and RCS Experience.

Dell XPS 13 9310 Featured Image showing display and keyboard deck.

Dell's XPS 13 sits at the top of our best laptops list and our list of the best 13-inch laptops. It's a near-perfect combination of design, aesthetics, and productivity performance resulting from years of improvements. Lenovo's IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon is a 14-inch laptop that seeks to compete with the XPS 13 by providing a slightly larger display in its own sleek and modern package.

The IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon has a faster CPU and a gorgeous OLED display, while the XPS 13 provides good enough performance and its own spectacular OLED option. Does the Lenovo's speed trump the Dell's excellent design?

Lenovo unveiled a number of new Chromebooks as part of the Mobile World Congress event. The devices include the IdeaPad Flex 5i and 3i and the IdeaPad Duet 3.

The IdeaPad 5i and 3i have 14-inch and 15-inch displays, respectively. They both have a FHD IPS panel with 400-nit peak brightness. Both of these Chromebooks are 2-in-1 convertibles. Aside from that and the screen quality, though, the two devices are actually quite different.

Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5i hands-on: One-upping the Surface Pro
The Lenovo IdeaPad 5i tablet.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 8 might be the best Windows 2-in-1 you can buy, but companies like Lenovo are using the base design of the device to try new things with the form factor. The ThinkPad X12 detachable is a good example of this, but Lenovo is now going after the Surface again with the new IdeaPad Duet 5i.

I got to try it ahead of Mobile World Congress and quickly found out that this new Windows tablet can do one thing that a Surface Pro or Surface Go can't -- and it's all thanks to the keyboard.
