I just fell in love with this adorable pink monitor

Pink PC peripherals aren’t easy to come by, which is sad if you’re anything like me. But LG just released a limited edition MyView Smart Monitor bundled with a wireless keyboard and a mouse — and they’re all in pink! It’s a really nice dusty pastel pink too, nothing too garish.

The monitor itself is a 27-inch, Full HD IPS MyView smart monitor with built-in webOS 23. This operating system lets you use streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video without connecting the monitor to a laptop, desktop, or gaming console. The resolution is 1080p, and the brightness is 250 nits — so it’s pretty basic in terms of specs and quality. It’s nothing as fancy as a 4K OLED LG monitor, but the whole desktop setup costs just $299, so it’s not a bad deal.

There are two USB and two HDMI ports at the back, positioned near the center of the monitor — in other words, in a really easy-to-reach place. I appreciate this, especially since I spent 10 minutes just today trying to slot my chunky PlayStation 5 HDMI cable into an unnecessarily awkwardly placed port on my own monitor. It was hard work, but I needed to make some adjustments to my setup so I can spend all weekend playing the early access of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.

The monitor has two built-in 5W speakers and comes with a remote control so you can watch your shows comfortably from the sofa or anywhere else other than your desk chair. It’s an affordable option for anyone building an “aesthetic” setup like you see on Pinterest or Instagram — and a rare chance to get a monitor, keyboard, and mouse all in exactly the same shade of pink. As for a matching pink desk mat, try this 70cm x 30cm Logitech one. I particularly like how easy it is to keep clean — though I did buy three so I can quickly switch it out if an extreme spill occurs.

I just spent over $1,000 on a gaming monitor and here’s why you should too
Front view of Samsung's new QLED Odyssey gaming monitor sitting on desk.

Every year during the Black Friday deals bonanza, I tell myself I’m not going to spend any money on new gaming equipment, especially not a new monitor. After all, I have a 3440 x 1440, 34-inch ultrawide RTX 2080 Super, giving me plenty of power to handle any game I throw at it, right? Wrong.

One $1,100 investment later, and I’m now the proud owner of the Samsung Odyssey G9 arguably one of the best ultrawide gaming monitors on the market next to Samsung’s own Odyssey G9 Neo, which is also on sale for a princely $2,000. The latter is too rich for my blood, but the Odyssey G9 has enough going for it that I didn’t think twice about clicking the “Buy” button.

HP launches the new Omen 25i gaming monitor, starting at just $349
hp omen 25i gaming monitor starts at 349 2

Gaming monitors typically start at 27-inches, which is what makes the HP Omen 25i quite unique. The smaller 25-inch screen means a smaller overall footprint, which could make the Omen 25i a good option for college students or anyone with a compact desk.

That also means this isn't an overly expensive monitor. The new Omen 25i costs $349. That's $70 more than the previous Omen 25, but it's still not overly expensive for a gaming monitor. That's especially true, considering the high-end design of this screen. It takes inspiration from the Omen laptops and desktops, featuring a diamond-shaped base and thin bezels.

Prime day brings $350 discount on this 34-inch Alienware 4K monitor
alienware 34 inch 4k monitor deal prime day 2020

Monitors are easily the most expensive PC peripherals, but if you want to get the best gaming and entertainment experience, then they're worth every penny. Thankfully, the 2020 Prime Day deals have arrived following the sale's summer delay and there are plenty of juicy bargains on offer that are just for the gamers out there -- including, of course, some excellent Prime Day monitor deals that can save you serious money. One of the best of the bunch is this discount on our favorite ultrawide gaming monitor, the 34-inch Alienware AW3420DW, which you can score right now for just $650.

For a long time, gamers who wanted more screen real estate than a standard 16:9 monitor could provide had to resort to setting up multiple displays. That has its advantages along with some notable disadvantages; namely, you can't really get a continuous ultrawide picture due to the image being broken up across several screens with bezels separating the panels. Even with today's super-slim bezels, the result is not a very clean look. Enter ultrawide monitors like the excellent Alienware AW3420DW, which offer a much more streamlined and immersive experience (not to mention one that results in considerably less cable clutter).
