It’s gone through betas and two Release Candidate versions to hopefully iron out all the bugs and ensure the features work properly. Now Mozilla has announced that its new Firefox 3 browser will get a full release next Tuesday, June 17.
In a statement the organization said:
"After more than 34 months of active development, and with the contributions of thousands, we’re proud to announce that we’re ready. It is our expectation to ship Firefox 3 this upcoming Tuesday, 17 June. Put on your party hats and get ready to download Firefox 3 — the best web browser, period."
Mozilla has already said it hopes to set a Guinness World Record for the number of downloads in a single day when Firefox 3 is released, with at least 1.75 million downloads – although its hopes for figures are set much higher.
To help achieve that it’s been encouraging users to sign up to its marketing arm spreadfirefox.com. Those who sign up will be assured they receive the browser on its release day.
