Samsung Spins Out Compact External Drives

Adding to its extensive line of hard disks, Samsung launched a new line on Wednesday with a focus on compact size and style. The 2.5-inch S2 Portable and 1.8-inch S1 Mini will offer USB connectivity, a professional look, and sizes of up to 500GB and 160GB, respectively.

Samsung has wrapped the drives in a high-gloss plastic casing that will come in piano black, snow white, wine red, and chocolate brown, all of which also come with a leather back cover. To keep size down, the USB controller has been integrated into the actual drives, giving the S1 Mini the footprint as small as a credit card.

Seagate Portable 2TB External Hard Drive

One of the most frustrating limitations of today's computers and video game consoles is their available storage space. One of the easiest solutions to this problem is an investment in external hard drive deals, which currently includes a 20% discount on the 4TB model of the Seagate Portable. From its original price of $125, it's down to a more affordable $100 on Amazon. This is a limited-time offer though, so there's a chance that you miss out on the savings of $25 if you don't proceed with your purchase right now.

Why you should buy the Seagate Portable 4TB external hard drive
One of the major features of the Seagate Portable 4TB external hard drive is its compatibility with most systems. It's designed to work with Windows PCs and laptops out of the box -- just connect it using the included 18-inch USB 3.0 cable -- but it will also work with Mac computers and MacBooks after reformatting it for MacOS. The device will also work with the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, though you can't install and play current-generation titles from it. Still, any additional storage space for these consoles are welcome, as today's most popular video games are pretty huge.

While cloud storage is typically considered to be one of the safer methods of storing data, several users have reported that Google Drive may have misplaced their files. In some cases, the data loss goes as far back as May 2023. Here's what we know, and how you can protect yourself.

Over the last few days, multiple complaints started cropping up on the Google Support forums. It appears that Google has a pretty worrying problem on its hands, and it was first reported by user Yeonjoong. Files are suddenly vanishing for some users, with seemingly no way to get them back. The user said that their drive seems to have gone back in time to May 2023, including files and folder structure.
