There’s no doubt that Outlook’s in box needs help. It can be difficult to organize. However, a startup called Xobni (in case you’re wondering,it’s in box spelled backwards) claims that it’s come up with a solution. Its new application (which is free) can not only offer quick searches, but also organize by conversation threadand even act as a social networking platform. It’s shown as a sidebar in Outlook and analyzes mail in the in-box, looking at the way people have communicated, even down to the filesthey’ve exchanged. "The goal of Xobni is to help people manage the overwhelming amount of personal data they receive on a daily basis," Matt Brezina, cofounder of Xobni, toldTechNewsWorld. When it analyzes the data, it displays information about the particular contact, including available phone numbers, and all theattachments that person has sent. At present users can’t choose what data they want shown in the sidebar, but that will happen soon, Brezina has promised. Xobni is also planning to makethe app available for web mail, but no date has yet been set for that. It’s only part of the big plans the company explained: "We want to continue to refine our core offering of allowingpeople to organize and search their personal information in an intuitive manner. We plan to expand to include other sources of personal information — such as Web mail — as well as integrate datafrom social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn," Brezina said. "Additionally, we want to make it easy for outside developers to expand on our offering using our forthcoming [applicationprogramming interface]." By including social networking, the company will be at the forefront of a trend. Or, at least, they hope so.
