JVC Unfolds Noise-Canceling Headphones

Audio and electronics manufacturer JVC has announced its new HA-NC80 noise cancelling headphones. The NC80s featur dual-mode noise cancellation circuitry which enables users to adapt the noise-cancellation feature to different environments: a “wide” setting cancels frequencies across a broad range (like, say, noise on a commercial airliner), while a “low” mode cancels a narrower set of frequencies (like, say, typical noise in a train or bus). JVC says the noise canceling circuitry can offer up to 75 percent noise reduction; although, of course, the noise cancellation feature can be turned off entirely, leaving the user with the cozy effects of the closed-cup padded earpieces.

The NC80’s offer a folding design which flattens out for easy packing and storage, and come with a pouch, 4.9 foot-long cord, and a dual-plug adapter so they can pop right into commercial airplane audio systems.

The NC80s will be available in December for a suggested retail price of $59.99. The noise canceling feature requires a single AAA battery.
