Leaker claims the MacBook Pro 14 could come with a price hike

Hopes are high for this year’s MacBook Pro range, which is expected to feature a major design overhaul that will see the MacBook Pro 13 morph into a 14-inch model with a larger screen. But according to one leaker, that redesign could come with an unwelcome price hike.

According to dylandkt on Twitter, the MacBook Pro 14 will see a “notable increase in price” over its 13-inch predecessor. The leaker did not give any clue as to what sort of price rise to expect, but from the sound of it, we could see a sizeable bump.

Many sources claim that Apple might release its next-generation MacBook Pro in the summer of 2021. Out of the multiple changes that the device is going to bring, one of them includes the absence of a Touch Bar.

While rumors of an all-new MacBook Pro 14 and refreshed MacBook Pro 16 have been doing the rounds for what feels like an eternity, a series of potential launch dates have come and gone without so much as a glimpse of a shiny new Apple laptop. Now, another possible release date has reared its head.

According to a DigiTimes report, Apple is gearing up to announce its new MacBook Pro models late in the third quarter of this year. The third quarter runs from July 1 to September 30, so DigiTimes’ prediction seems to indicate a September launch date.
