Another high-profile PC game calls for 32GB of RAM

You probably need to upgrade your gaming PC's RAM soon. Developer WB Games Avalanche released the PC system requirements for the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy on Friday, and it's the second game we've seen releasing in 2023 that calls for 32GB of RAM.

The PC port of Returnal was the first high-profile release we saw calling for 32GB of RAM, and Hogwarts Legacy is a sign that this could become the norm for PC releases. The traditional wisdom has been that 16GB is the only RAM you need for gaming, but that's changing.

Sony's Returnal is coming to the PC, and while it does call for a pretty decent computer, only one requirement really raises eyebrows -- the amount of RAM.

According to the system requirements on Steam, Returnal calls for 32GB of RAM in order to run on the recommended specs. Does that mean that a RAM upgrade is on the horizon for many PC gamers?

Microsoft’s price hike on Xbox games will apply to PC, Steam

Microsoft confirmed to Digital Trends that the impending price increase on its first-party games will apply to its PC releases as well. The change will happen in 2023 and affect upcoming titles like Starfield, Redfall, and Forza Motorsport.

This morning, IGN reported that Microsoft will be raising the prices of Xbox Series X|S games from $60 to $70. Digital Trends asked Microsoft if this would also apply to the PC versions of its games. A Microsoft spokesperson said, "Yes, starting in 2023, our new, full-priced games will be $69.99 across console and PC storefronts. This price reflects the content, scale, and complexity of these titles, regardless of platform. These games will also be available on day one with Game Pass.”
